You can have Jim Nantz

I don’t prefer to listen to Jim Nantz do play by play on anything. He is the perfect corporate shill and hack. If it smells of controversy he starves the viewers by avoiding it. Search Masters coverage of protestors on CBS.

Some don’t mind him.

They are probably the same folks who watch College Game day for Tom Rinaldi. Look forward to Stephen Curry placing his daughter on his lap during press conferences. Or, listen to Mike Greenburg think it is funny that he has to wear a Giants jersey to work.

Those same people probably don’t read Dead Spin or most bloggers who have against the grain opinions. Writers like Skip Bayless and Jason Whitlock. Or, don’t watch TV commentators like Charles Barkley and Mike Ditka. Or listen to Jim Rome. Or any commentator who has a cynical bent and offers appropriate sarcasm over Pablum.

In other words says what we all see.

Not Jim Nantz! He probably orders vanilla shakes and salads with lemon. Likes his hair. Takes the party line to keep everybody but the viewers happy.

He didn’t think Peyton Manning being accused of PED’s was news so didn’t want to mention it.  Snitched on Tiger cheating on the golf course.  Rips Tiger for swearing on the golf course in front of Dads and Kids. And, last night, totally undersold the Burfict and Jones penalties. He kept an even tone and sounded about as excited as he does calling a golf match. His focuses on the broadcast mechanics, his league to protect and CBS. Anything but what smarter and smarter TV viewers want to see and hear. Maybe if he actually knew the athletes he was covering he would have a different opinion.

Does he know who Pacman Jones is?(click here)

Of course not. He is too busy reminding us that Jones has an incredible story. Has come so far. Whatever, Jim.
