Postgame Notes From Boone Pickens Stadium

Boise State drops to 3-16 in true road games at Autonomous Five programs (the Broncos are 16-25 all-time against Autonomous Five programs). The loss is the first by Boise State against an Autonomous Five program while ranked since a 2013 season-opening 38-6 loss at Washington. Boise State is 11-6 against Autonomous Five programs while ranked in the Top 25.

Boise State had two punts blocked, with one being returned for a touchdown by Oklahoma State in the third quarter. They were the first blocked Bronco punts since having one blocked and returned for a touchdown by Air Force on Nov. 25, 2016.

The Broncos finished with 34 rushing yards, their lowest total since going for 30 yards on the ground in last season’s loss to Virginia.

Boise State’s 56 pass attempts mark the fourth-highest single-game total in program history. The 39 completions are the third-most in a single game.

Quarterback Brett Rypien became Boise State’s all-time leader in career 300-yard passing games, finishing the game with 380 yards. It was the 17th such performance in Rypien’s career, eclipsing Kellen Moore’s (2008-11) mark of 16.

Rypien’s three consecutive 300-yard passing games marks the first time a Boise State quarterback has achieved the feat since Ryan Dinwidde in 2003 (Nov. 29 against Nevada, Dec. 6 against Hawaii, and Dec. 23 against TCU in the Fort Worth Bowl).

Rypien is the first Broncos quarterback to open a season with three straight 300-yard passing games. Rypien finished the game 39-for-56 for 380 yards and three touchdowns. He was sacked a season-high seven times, after only being sacked once in the first two games.

Redshirt senior wide receiver A.J. Richardson led the Broncos with 70 receiving yards and a touchdown on six catches.

Junior wide receiver John Hightower caught his second touchdown pass of the season with a 31-yard grab in the second quarter. He finished with three catches for 44 yards.

Sophomore receiver CT Thomas led Boise State with eight receptions (52 yards).

Redshirt sophomore tight end John Bates posted career highs in receptions (four) and receiving yards (49).

Redshirt senior tight end Chase Blakley set a career-high with six receptions, which went for 30 yards and his first-career touchdown. Blakley entered the game with three receptions in his career.

Redshirt senior STUD Jabril Frazier recorded two sacks, his first two of the season.
