I Lost Weight. Here’s How.

I have been dieting for the last 31 days. I have lost over 23 pounds. I am not excited because I have 25 to go and then I have to make permanent changes to keep it off and then lose more.  I have usually been a successful dieter and horrible maintainer. I write this today to answer some of the questions I get about how I am doing this. I have lost weight with Fortunate Life, Nutri Systems, Atkins Diet, South Beach Diet, Body for Life and my own designs as well. I have steadily gained and lost 85 lbs in the last 31 years. Unfortunately, every gain almost was never back down to my steady weight of 215 at the age of 25. Not bad considering that I finished my football career at 265 lbs. I spent most of my 30’s battling 240 lbs, 40’s going up and down from 250-65 and now tipping scales at 295 lbs was a sign to go down. I have jeans in my closet from size 38 to 42. I wear XXl shirts and some of those were too small. It was time to do something about this and address the emotional connections to food and drink as well. Imagine how tough that’s been on my heart, etc. I have had borderline high blood pressure and drank a bit too much in my late 30’s-early 40’s so my liver showed a little damage. Other than that I have a clean bill of health. How I looked at start of program:

How I look today:

Now I am on the www.shapereclaimed.com program with http://Www.foothillsmedspa.com and for the first time I am on a doctor supervised plan. Dr Guy and her staff weigh me in each 2 weeks and administer a urinalysis to monitor my dehydration, protein intake and other metrics.  I use some nanomolecular drops, non prescription, that help me with hunger pains and energy. I was given a diet to match my personal situation and I stick to a diet of 16 oz of chicken or steak, 7 oz of Greek yogurt with ½ cup of blueberries or strawberries, 7 oz of cottage cheese with salsa, 16 nut-thin crackers, and 4 cups of steamed veggies. That’s it. Water and coffee yes, everything else NO. I could use recipes for other items but I am a rinse and repeat kinda guy until I get to my goal. I have never dieted during the football season before so this is different. I have survived less exercise because of increased watching tv, no drinking and limited eating at 3 tailgates, and small doses of BBQ in Alabama and none in Oklahoma. I have gone to steak places with friends and family and stuck to my guns. I haven’t touched bread, butter, milk or potato’s. YET. When I level off I can add back in items and see if I like the results. I have traded in eating or drinking what I want in the moment for such better health it’s scary. I sleep better. I don’t sweat as much. I don’t snore. I don’t wheeze. I have energy to play tennis 6 hours a week, ride bikes and walk dogs. I am calmer in most situations and finding it easier to relax and discuss things. Now, I just have to keep on these adjustments and find other ways to experience joy, relax in less than 3 hours and escape reality. I hope this helps any of you who feel the same way or know it is time for a change. Join me.
