There a lot of things all wrong about Donald Trump running for POTUS. But, I hope he represents the future of politics in this country.  Even if he loses.

With Trump it’s all about the race not the finish.

Let me explain.

I understand this isn’t a sports blog but, what the hell, gimme 90 seconds to explain this point of view and then you can go back to Plan B for sports reading, whatever that may be.

Trump has had plenty of business ventures go bankrupt; he has been married three times and has had hundreds of civil lawsuits against him. Trump married a non US citizen model first (Ivana), had an affair with an actress (Marla Maples) and married her. He then divorced and is now married to another model, Melania from Slovenia. He was 59 years old when he married 35 year old Melania. This could be the next First Lady.

He has foreclosed on the elderly, wants to throw Mexican immigrants out of the country, may have done business with the Mob, and publicly attacks high profile people. He is brash, rude, wrong, outspoken, ignorant, and possibly racist and a bully.

What doesn’t he do wrong in public?

It really doesn’t matter what he does well. At least he isn’t taking special interest group money to get elected. YET.

The thing he does offer is plenty of dirty laundry. His business and personal life don’t make headlines though because it’s already been reported. He is flawed and we all know it. He is still winning. So, maybe in the future, rather than freak out about the personal lives of our political candidates, we can focus on what they do offer. Trump has set the bar low for outspoken, flawed, businessman type candidates. If Trump doesn’t become President, it’s only a matter of time before some Trump Light candidate raises that bar and does. That’s it, back to sports.
