BOISE STATE BASEBALL: Broncos Hire Gary Van Tol As New Manager; Hear Podcast Of His Interview On KTIK

Former Boise Hawks manager Gary Van Tol, a Boise resident, will be introduced as Boise State’s new baseball coach during a Tuesday press conference on campus, a source has confirmed to KTIK 93.1 The Ticket.

Boise State plans to start competing in baseball in the winter/spring of 2020. The university plans to build a new on-campus stadium to support the new Mountain West baseball program.

Van Tol managed in the Northwest League three of the past four seasons, all with the Chicago Cubs organization: Boise Hawks (2013, 41-35), Hawks (2014, 41-35) and Eugene Emeralds (2015, 38-38). He was the Emeralds bench coach in 2016-17.

Van Tol, who played for the Canadian National Team and Gonzaga, has coached at the college level for Treasure Valley Community College, Centralia College, Portland and Gonzaga.
