Boise State Basketball fans have Championship Experience

The Boise State basketball fan experience is at its Championship peak. Just ask a Football fan. Often times, the bigger the game the bigger the hassle. Traffic to and from can be bumper to bumper. Freezing weather and impossible parking on residential streets. Game times are late and sometimes on week nights. Remember last season’s San Diego State football game? 9 degree weather and an 8:26 pm kick off. The game was over at 11:39pm.

That’s NOT been the case for the last few big games at Taco Bell Arena.

For both the San Diego State and Fresno State home games, both with crowds over 10,500, I parked at The Ram about 45 minutes to tip off. The traffic to get there was non- existent. The tip off times perfect: Sunday at 4pm and Saturday at 6pm. No scheduling hassles for me. The weather was mild. At The Ram, I could have a quick bite to eat or cocktail and then walk ten minutes along the greenbelt to the game. I walked right in Taco Bell Arena with no hassles. No long security lines. During the game, the concession lines were short as long as you timed when you went.  As for the concession choices, my expectations are low. I was happy. I am at a game for god’s sake not a shopping mall food court. Yea, beer, wine or cocktails would be nice but the powers to be don’t find us responsible enough or don’t want the liability. By the way, when is the last time a University or Pro sports team was sued for over serving?

And, fans this season are seeing championship ball. You have your first Mountain West Regular Season Co-Championship and MWC MVP to be in Derrick Marks.

Now that the MWC tourney looks like a good bet, isn’t it easier to get away on short notice this week then at the holidays? Fans can drive to Vegas to watch the tourney and buy 2 $35 tickets to Thursday afternoons Boise State- New Mexico/Air Force winner game online. And, Vegas has plenty of hotel room deals.

Championship basketball fans have it easy.
