The Balding Eagles set the bar for Boise State football parody songs. Over the years nothing was sacred. From former Fresno State Coach Pat Hill’s “Rock and Roll fu manchu,” to the “Bowling Green Acres.” They produced dozens of parody songs about Boise State opponents.

I was a part-time member of the Balding Eagles. Kind of like what Timothy B. Schmidt is to the Eagles. After the band’s main songwriter skipped town, the Balding Eagles disbanded. Their meteoric rise and fall was something out of a “Behind the Music” episode. In 2014, there were no parody songs for Boise State football. Some probably think that was a good thing.

This year a new band, The Ticket Mafia has taken up the torch and will try to run with it. Their songs may or may not be good, but you have to admit, their band logo is incredible! Parody isn’t for everyone. The Ticket Mafia will try to write some fun songs and bring back the tradition.
