My two cents on BSU-Virginia

I don’t think anyone expected Boise State to dominate Virginia the way they did Friday night. One thing is sure, the Brett Rypien era has started. In his first start Rypien was more than impressive on the road, against a Power Five team. He was poised, but the coaches can’t be happy about the number of times he took a hit. I thought there would be more plays for Tommy Stuart. In the end this was the Rypien show. They way Bryan Harsin tutored Rypien coming off the field reminded me of the way Dirk Koetter tutored a young Bart Hendricks years ago.

The Bronco defense is going to be dominant.

BSU Offensive Coordinator Eliah Drinkwitz seems to be hitting a groove.

Tyler Rausa has a strong leg. The missed 54 yard field goal that hit the upright would have been good from 60 plus yards. Wouldn’t it be nice if Bronco fans didn’t have to cringe on every field goal attempt?

Larry Lewis, the former BSU player who is the Cavaliers Special Teams/RB Coach, had a terrible night. His personnel had a free kick go out of bounds, a missed field goal, an offside penalty on a kickoff and virtually no run game. Head Coach Mike London was seen ripping into him on the sideline.

Virginia looked like a very undisciplined team committing dumb mistakes/penalties. It’s embarrasing to trash talk when your getting killed on the scoreboard.

I enjoyed the color commentary from former Texas Coach Mack Brown. He added a lot to the TV broadcast.
