Boise State senior basketball player Chandler Hutchison was selected as the Mountain West Preseason Player of the Year and the Broncos were picked to finish third in the conference preseason poll, released Wednesday in Las Vegas. The preseason predictions were voted on by 24 media members who cover the league.
Hutchison is the first Bronco to earn preseason player of the year honors since Boise State joined the Mountain West. Derrick Marks (2015) is the only player in program history to earn the Mountain West honor at the end of the season.
Nevada was picked to repeat as league champions (19 first-place votes, 257 points), followed by San Diego State (2, 229) and Boise State (2, 211).
