I have always been a movie buff. Dramas, comedies, documentaries; I like them all. Sure I enjoy sports, but ultimately I am more interested in how a great film was made than how "Team A" beat "Team B." One of the most fascinating documentaries I have ever seen was "Hearts of Darkness, A Filmmaker's Apocalypse." Directed by Eleanor Coppola, the film chronicles the making of "Apocalypse Now" and how her husband Francis Ford Coppola nearly went crazy during the process.
Through twitter I recently became aware of a local film company called Parallel Worlds Productions. I was intrigued after clicking on a video link. I watched a short film they submitted to the 2012 H48 Film festival. "Convex " is a spooky and violent film that won Best in Fest and Best Villian. The filmmakers had 48 hours to write, film and edit the final product. Each had a prop, a line of dialogue and a landmark that must be included in the film. Check it out by clicking here!
Here is a behind the scenes look at the making of "Convex."
The company is currently filming a web series called "4Hire." The story: Four childhood friends become vigilante hitmen, righting the wrongs where justice falls short.
Their work is quite impressive, with scenes filmed throughout Boise. I do not know any of the people involved. I just felt that creative and talented people like this should be recognized. They rely on a growing number of volunteers, but do have expenses. Anyone with a few extra bucks can help make sure they are able to finish their project. For the right amount you might even become the Co-Producer. Who knows, you might be helping out the next Scorcese, Spielberg or Coppola. Learn more about their project here!
Of course, I have tried directing my own I-movies with the use of my IPAD and I-phone. So why not pop up some microwave popcorn and check out "The Decoy!"
