It’s a Man Cubicle!

Over the years everyone accumulates a whole lot of stuff. If you’re lucky, just enough to keep you off the TV show “Hoarders.” I enjoy looking at memorabilia and have collected my fair share. Recently I decided to claim a room in my house to become my “Man Cave.” It’s a pretty small room, so maybe I should call it a man cubicle. But it’s mine. It’s where I plan to lose myself when I want to watch golf or a movie. I decided to make it a golf room, complete with a fresh paint job and golf memorabilia. When I was younger I had Led Zeppelin posters all over my walls. Now that I’m older, my golf room looks pretty tame.

One corner of the room has a few pieces from the 2009 PGA Championship I attended. It includes my media pass, a flag, Sunday pin locations and the newspaper chronicling Tiger Woods first and only major loss when leading after 54 holes. It should have been Tiger’s 15th major win on his way to breaking Jack Nicklaus’s record. But all hell broke loose for Tiger three months later, and he’s still waiting on his next one.

My “19th Hole” room also includes two hole-in-one golf balls. Yes, I have held on to a severely discolored Prostaff golf ball for more than 30 years. The pin flag is from Laurel Golf Course (MT) where I spent many hours working and practicing when I was younger. The flag was a gift from my dad who has been a member there for more than 40 years. The scorecard is from around 1970, the era when the course was first built. I have some nice Pebble Beach items from when I was lucky enough to play there with my oldest brother.

So now, I have my Man Cave. All it needs is a bigger TV, and maybe a putting green!
